The Stepping Stone (SA) Be You Action Team Leaders (ATL) recently came together for a session of professional learning and collaboration.
These regular meetings reinforce our commitment to participating in Australia’s national mental health and wellbeing in education initiative to support early learning services and schools to create inclusive, connected and mentally healthy learning environments.
Supported by Be You consultant Cris, the meeting centred on strengthening knowledge of implementation cycles, with a particular focus on identifying barriers, leveraging enablers, and understanding the concept of readiness to support meaningful, sustainable progress.
A highlight of the session included two presentations from Be You ATLs, who shared how their services are actively supporting mental health and wellbeing within their learning communities. Their experiences offered practical strategies, real-world examples, and inspiration for teams continuing their own Be You journeys.
- ‘Stepping Stone Happy Valley’s Be You Journey’ – Presented by Ella from Happy Valley.
- ‘Team Hewett’ – Presented by Be You Action Team Leader Berni from Hewett.
The session also included an exploration of Be You’s Disability Inclusion Guide and Cultural Responsiveness and First Nations Perspectives resources, directly supporting our current focus on Fostering mental health within diverse and inclusive learning communities.
Action Team Leaders reflected on our intended research focus and key outcomes to:
- strengthen pedagogical understandings and practice
- deepen relationships and a sense of belonging
- consider how to support their services’ ongoing research and practice
- ensure that inclusive and culturally responsive approaches continue to inform learning and wellbeing initiatives.
These gatherings continue to provide valuable opportunities for shared learning, connection, and collective action, empowering our leaders to champion mentally healthy, resilient environments for children, families and educators.
